38 Ocean Road is a ground-up new build in the heart of Point Lonsdale, documenting the full construction journey from architectural concept through to structural completion. The project involved the partial retention and full renovation of an existing two-storey dwelling alongside a substantial new single-storey addition - a complex build requiring careful sequencing across demolition, footing works, slab pours, and timber framing.
The architectural design centres on a relaxed coastal aesthetic with vertical cladding, pitched gable rooflines, and a generous open-plan living and alfresco zone anchored by a covered outdoor kitchen. Large glazed sliding doors blur the boundary between interior and exterior, while an upper-level studio space with oversized windows captures elevated views across the surrounding neighbourhood.
On site, the construction sequence tells its own story - from excavator demolition of the existing rear structure, through fresh concrete slabs and raised timber subfloor framing, to the installation of prefabricated roof trusses and wall frames across both the new addition and the retained upper storey. Drone photography captures the scale and complexity of the works, with the full footprint of the build laid bare before cladding and lock-up.
38 Ocean Road is presented here as a construction documentation portfolio, capturing key milestones across the build in both colour and black-and-white to reflect the craftsmanship and precision behind every stage.
